Grand Theft Auto V Review

The Grand Theft Auto video game series is one that I follow pretty closely.  My initial exposure to the GTA franchise was in 1998, when a friend got a copy for Christmas. Knowing that my parents wouldn’t allow me to have a game with such ridiculous vulgarity made the games that much cooler. The GTA franchise has always given us endless side missions and ridiculous easter eggs to keep us entertained, GTA V is no exception.

I have been so blown away with how much there is to do right off the bat.  The outlandish things you can do in this game make it one of my all-time favorites. Want to play 18 holes of golf? You can walk onto the course and do so. Want to invest in the stock market, just log onto a computer and look them over.  While you are on that computer you can even surf the ridiculous internet they have cooked up.  Finally Rockstar has us going “There is no way I can do this….oh my god I can do this!?!?”  I have been completely side tracked looking around for various things your character can do. Just the overall size of the map is astounding. It really gives even the casual video gamer an easy to use, fun experience for hours. My sister has barely played a video game in her life and spent 6 hours driving cars around, beating up random hoodlums and getting hunted down by the cops.

The game allows you to play as 3 different characters that you can switch between on the fly. Right away I was not crazy about this part of the game.  Then I got to see it in action while playing a mission.  While driving with one character, you can switch to the one in the passenger seat to shoot at people who are chasing you. Each character has an individual special ability, and they all have stats that you can improve by doing various things.

It would be difficult to give this game less than a 10, it really does deliver on all levels. Rockstar hit a homerun.
