When people hear about LEGO games, they automatically think they are created for kids. The reality is that titles like LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham are not only very nice to play and truly impressive, but at the same time they are designed with a lot of replay value in mind as well.
What I love the most in this game is the fact that alongside being able to explore Gotham, we also find many of the iconic characters from the DC universe, such as the Flash, Superman, Green Lantern and way many others, including villains like the Joker.
Having more than 150 characters to choose from is definitely something that offers a lot of value to the title, but for me the best thing is that they offered multiple game modes to choose from. You have a story mode that’s really nice, but at the same time you also get a free play mode where you are the ruler and choose to play as you see fit.
I do think that the game has a very good architectural design and the idea of playing alongside iconic characters is really neat. Since you have tons of quests to explore, you will definitely find LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham as being a very impressive game. Sure, nothing has really changed when compared to the older games, but the title does offer a very interesting set of choices as you play, so overall I do feel that it is more than decent, although there are a few places for improvement, especially when it comes to map exploration.
Since some of the planets you explore in the game are very large, exploration can be indeed a problem if you have a lot of ground to cover. Thankfully, the gameplay is very immersive so this won’t really be that much of an issue most of the time. The attack combinations are solid, the combat is very nice and the in-game currency does allow you to obtain access to many types of upgrades which is very important.
Many characters have multiple costumes, and it’s just really nice to unlock them all. Since it’s a game about superheroes, the superpowers are abundant and you will have a ton of abilities to master depending on the character you choose.
Graphically, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham does bring some improvements in regards to the predecessor, but the game feels pretty much the same, which is great since it does make the game feel a lot more cohesive and fun as a whole.
Overall, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is a good game and if you like LEGO titles you will definitely enjoy it. It’s also a nice game for superhero lovers, so just give it a shot, and you will appreciate the great quality!
