Madden 25 Review

Every year we can count on a couple of things – new terrible pop songs, Christmas and a new Madden video game. Having grown up in the graphically-challenged 90s, sports video games have come a long, long ways. The games look better, are easier to control and every year have some cool added new features. Madden 25 released on August 27, just about when everyone is ready to spend 9 hours every Sunday watching football and beer commercials (GUILTY!).

With the ever-expanding technology of video games, (seriously…compare Contra to any Call of Duty) it seems inevitable that eventually a console and game creators would hit a graphical wall. Madden 25 is that wall. I haven;t played a Madden game in probably 4 or 5 years, so I was genuinely excited to see what improvements had been made. I was sadly disappointed. The graphic quality was much the same as Maddens of old and not much had changed from the gameplay or the glitchy presentation.

The best part of most games now is the online mode. OK so maybe Madden 25 wasn’t the best game ever, but I still want to wreck some fools and talk trash online. Wrong, the online portion of the game is one of the worst online experiences I’ve had. Every play, motion or action is stuttered between players. BOO!!!! It is incredibly annoying.

There are some new features in the Ultimate Team mode, where you can develop your own team to rule the league. Updated rosters are also nice.

Overall, it’s a football game and kept me entertained for the most part. There are some glaring similarities to past Madden games, but EA was smart to try and replicate past successes.

Out of 10, I’d rate Madden 25 a 6.7.
